Springvale Neighbourhood House held its 2016 Harmony Festival in Harmony Square, Dandenong on Wednesday 16 March.

This special day was to celebrate the wonderful cultural diversity in the fabulous area in which we live and to educate the community about the different services available.

The event included community groups wearing their traditional/national dress, a concert involving cultural singing and dancing, stalls with interactive activities for all as well as cultural food stalls.

The outcome of the day was to promote understanding and respect for diverse cultural, linguistic and religious groups and celebrate diversity through appreciation and sharing of different cultural experiences.

Dandenong fire brigade added to the event by bringing along a variety of vehicles for the community to have a look at and engaged by answering questions and interaction with children which was very well received.

There was also a static display where members of the community were taught how to use a fire blanket and received important information about home fire safety.
