With hot weather conditions and increased fire risk expected for the rest of the week, residents and visitors affected by the Harrietville fire are encouraged to stay informed.

There are two Community Meetings scheduled tomorrow (Thursday):

  • 11am at the Omeo Fire Station, Bilton St, Omeo
  • 4pm at the Blue Duck Inn, Omeo Hwy, Anglers Rest

Additional crews and resources are in place to support back burning operations and in anticipation of increased fire activity associated with the hot, dry weather forecast this week.

The Department of Health is advising residents of Harrietville to boil their drinking water until further notice. Customers should boil all water for drinking, brushing teeth, washing and preparing food or beverages, preparing baby formula and making ice. Unboiled water can be used for showering and bathing (babies and toddlers should be sponge bathed), washing dishes by hand or in a dishwasher (dishes should be air dried before use) and washing clothes.
