CFA, MFB and SES personnel worked together to rescue a man who was trapped at the bottom of a concrete water tank.

Emergency services were called to the Gisborne South address after the 55-year-old man, who was undertaking maintenance on the tank, fell through the roof.

CFA were the first on scene and called in SES and MFB for specialised rescue equipment.

Ambulance Victoria crews stabilised the patient before he was strapped to a spine board and lifted out of the tank by MFB crews using hydraulic lifting equipment.

The man was transported to hospital.
