On Saturday 28 June a white Holden Commodore sedan collided with a concrete power pole on Lower Dandenong Road Dingley Village around 11:15am.

The force of the impact snapped the pole at ground level and left it suspended by high and low voltage lines directly above the roadway. Passer-by's and nearby residents managed to drag the driver free from the car without receiving any shocks and then clear the area.

Senior Station Officer Josie Sensi and her crew from Springvale Brigade worked with police to keep the area isolated from the public while power company officials assessed the damage. Dandenong Rescue also attended but were not needed to release the driver.

Lower Dandenong Road was blocked for the rest of the day as teams of power company workers replaced poles and rewired them to restore power back in the area for residents and businesses alike.

The driver did not suffer any life threatening injuries but was taken by paramedics to hospital for treatment.
