Highest ever number of career applicants
CFA’s latest campaign to recruit career firefighters has resulted in the largest ever number of applicants, with the number of current CFA volunteers applying rising from last year.
There was also a solid increase in the number of women putting in applications.
More than 1400 people applied for one of the 75 roles, which see recruits starting their first on-station placement on graduation from a 16-week recruit course. Three recruit courses will be held from mid-2015.
The successful recruits will be selected following a series of interviews, written tests and physical challenge tests over approximately 6 months, with the pool of applicants being reduced at each stage.
Applications closed on Wednesday 10 October with anyone who missed the window for applying encouraged to monitor the CFA website in late winter/early spring next year.
