Just before 8:30am on Tuesday 1 July Springvale brigade and MFB Pumper 33 were called to a fire at a Dingley golf course.

Golfers at the Peninsula Kingswood Country Golf Club spotted something different happening at the par 4, 367 metre 8th hole in Dingley Village.

A maintenance workers motorised cart had caught fire near the green and was well alight. Other workers tried to use fire extinguishers to stop the fire but were driven back by smoke and flames.

The brigade entered the course on foot from McClure Road and using a water supply from within the site and wearing breathing apparatus contained the fire to the vehicle which was totally destroyed.

Senior Station Officer Stephens from Springvale brigade said the cause of the fire to the petrol engined cart is not deemed suspicious.
