A Boronia home has been extensively damaged by fire and a garage housing two cars destroyed following an overnight fire.
CFA crews from Boronia, The Basin, Montrose and Bayswater were called to the Torresdale Drive address around 11.15pm to find the double garage well alight and spreading to the adjoining brick home.
It took 40 minutes to bring under control. Ambulance Victoria transported a man to hospital for treatment to burns.
Police were also called to investigate the alleged theft of a some safety lighting from a CFA vehicle supplying firefighters with breathing apparatus.
The cause of the fire is being investigated.
