House destroyed in Heyfield

CFA firefighters were called to an early morning house fire in Heyfield today, 13 April.

Crews arrived shortly after 2.45am to the fire on Allman Street.

The occupant was home at the time of the fire but was able to escape unharmed.

District 10 Acting Operations Manager Peter Barr said CFA crews worked well to contain the fire as the house was fully engulfed upon the brigade’s arrival.

“The fire started in the carport and spread to the structure, unfortunately the house is destroyed,” Mr Barr said.

“CFA crews remained at the scene for quite some time blacking out and monitoring hot spots.

The cause of the fire is being investigated, with CFA and police investigators working together to determine a cause.

Eleven CFA vehicles from Heyfield, Maffra, Rosedale, Glenmaggie, Tinamba, Winnindoo, Cowwarr, Seaton and Traralgon attended as well as police and builder surveyors.
