Four children lost their lives and a house was destroyed by a fire in Werribee overnight.
CFA was called to the house fire in Mantello Drive at Werribee around 1am today (21/11).
On arrival firefighters found the single storey brick veneer house fully alight.
CFA District 14 Commander David Clancy said around 30 CFA firefighters were supported by FRV firefighters to battle the fire.
“Firefighters worked under very challenging conditions and had to attack the fire externally due to its intensity,” Commander Clancy said.
The roof collapsed as a result of the fire and the house was completely destroyed.
The fire was brought under control around 2am.
The scene was declared safe around 5am and was handed to Victoria Police.
The cause of the fire is being investigated today.
