Improved structural ensemble cleaning for brigades
CFA members issued with structural ensembles can look forward to a surprise spring cleaning.
It comes in the form of a new laundry contract that provides a 48-hour turnaround for cleaning volunteer and career staff structural ensemble PPC (not including the time taken for freight to get to and from the laundry). The new arrangement starts on Monday, 5 September 2016.
This should be especially welcomed by brigades who fight structure fires, improving the laundry turnaround times and also delivering a new regime around PPC decontamination. All garments worn at incidents will now be treated as contaminated and washed to the highest standard, eliminating end-user judgement.
“This is a very good outcome for members,” says Deputy Chief Officer Alen Slijepcevic. “The new arrangement will greatly improve how quickly the ensemble gets cleaned and returned to brigades.”
An information pack containing the details of the new arrangement, including instructions about how brigades can support the transition, has been sent to all impacted brigades.
