It’s Christmas time at Doreen

Doreen Fire Brigade members and their families gathered together again to celebrate all that is good in CFA with an informal Sunday Christmas brunch.

It's a time to say thanks to the families and friends who support the members who make themselves available throughout the year, often at short notice and occasionally for extended periods of time.

The sacrifices made by those behind the scenes often go unrecognised as the members are often paged to attend incidents at any time.

We had a bit of a barbecue breakfast of sausages, bacon, eggs, fruit, Jan’s special pastries and other goodies, while the esky was full of fruit juice, water and soft drinks.

The Junior Brigade organised some unique games challenging some of the older members with traditional favourites like the egg and spoon race.

Santa Claus took time out of his very busy schedule to drop by on  Doreen’s tanker, with a present for the very excited children. 

Santa was pleased to advise that we had all been good this year (well most of us).

Captain Chris Maries thanked all those who had contributed to Doreen brigade and presented the Doreen Member of the Year Award for 2017.

This award is recognition for outstanding contribution to the brigade's operation in any of the many areas we now engage in. Every member of the brigade is allowed one vote to select each year's winner.

Doreen Fire Brigade is proud to announce the Member of the Year 2017 is Sammy Williams.

Sammy is our Junior Leader and has been instrumental in building a strong Junior Brigade at Doreen. 

Past winners have been Isaac Rankine (2013), Ceejay Porter-Noyle (2014), and Leigh Mcdonald (2015 and 2016).

A special thanks to Lago Smallgoods who donated the bacon, hash browns and kranskys for this year's Christmas brunch.
