Last chance to join CFA's MCG march. Apply today
Places are filling up for the AFL Country Game parade of honour for CFA.
Around 200 members have put in an expression of interest to join with other members marching around the MCG ahead of the Round 4 clash between Essendon and Geelong on Saturday, 16 April. Applications close later today (29 March) at midnight.
The AFL have given us 250 tickets for members who want to be part of the parade. This will be an opportunity for Victorians and all other footy fans to say ‘thank you’ for all the hard work of CFA members.
All members are eligible for consideration. Fill out the expression of interest here. If there is someone you think should be part of this parade, please encourage them to apply.
The parade is part of the Country Game – developed by Kevin Sheedy – which pays tribute to the contribution of rural and regional Victoria to the game of football.
All regions will get an equal amount of participants. Everyone who marches will have the chance to purchase a second ticket for a colleague, friend or family member in the AFL reserve for the discounted price of $25.
Essendon and Geelong are also going to auction off their game day jerseys, with the proceeds going towards mental health initiatives within CFA. The two clubs have also offered to support our Home Fire Safety campaign.
Thousands of footy fans will see the parade. It is well deserved praise.
