Kaarimba crop fire
CFA has just brought a large grassfire under control in Kaarimba, around 28 kilometres north of Shepparton.
Firefighters were called to the incident at 3.45pm and found the fire spreading quickly through a wheat crop.
CFA’s District 22 Duty Officer Shane Sutton said the fire has burnt around 30 hectares of land but no other property has been affected.
“We’ve issued an Advice message to warn the community there is smoke in the area and to review their bushfire survival plan,” he said.
Police have closed the Waaia - Bearii Road to through traffic between the Shepparton - Barmah Road and Osbornes Road.
There are 19 CFA trucks and 3 Field Command Vehicles on scene.
