Kentbruck containment lines hold
Good preparation throughout the past week ensured the Kentbruck fire remained controlled today.
DSE had an increased on-ground presence to monitor the fire and ensure containment lines held.
Fire activity increased during the day due to the severe fire conditions. Construction of strong containment lines over the last two weeks ensured the activity was deep within the fire area and well within containment lines.
Incident Controller Kevin Wilson confirmed, “As predicted, it put up lots of smoke but the fire remained controlled.”
“Messages were updated through the day to keep the community informed of the fire situation and reassure them that although there was a considerable amount of smoke across the south west, there was no cause for concern."
People are reminded that bushfire smoke can reduce air quality and may affect people’s health. Individuals experiencing any symptoms that may be due to smoke exposure, the Department of Health advises people to seek medical advice or call Nurse on Call on 1300 606 024.
