Kongwak's station opening & awards
The new Kongwak Fire Station was officially opened on 12 November 2013.
Peter Ryan MP opened the new two bay $462,000 station which includes a new meeting room, office and modern kitchen facilities.
Some members also received recognition with service awards presented by CFA Operation Officer Bill Allards. Among those to receive awards was Reg Grabham who was the recipient of a 55 year service medal.
Captain Ross Olden stated that the new facility would greatly benefit the brigade. "Without the volunteers, stations are just shed with trucks in them," he said.
The day concluded with a tasty and plentiful afternoon tea provided by members and families.
