Leopold house saved by fireys
Firefighters have saved a Leopold house from being destroyed after a fire broke out in the ceiling of the large single storey home this afternoon (13 June).
CFA was called to the structure fire at 2.40pm and found flames billowing from the roof.
The fire was controlled within 40 minutes with around a quarter of the house receiving extensive damage.
More than 30 firefighters successfully doused the flames before they spread through the rest of the structure.
The female owner of the house was home at the time the fire broke out but she escaped unharmed.
A fire investigator is now on scene trying to determine the cause but it’s not being treated as suspicious.
Eight CFA trucks from Leopold, Geelong, Corio and Wallington attended the incident.
