Lilydale fire station will be open on Sunday 25th November to mark CFA Sunday. CFA Sunday is a chance for the public to meet the volunteers and will include items for the kids and a barbecue.

The fire station will be open between 11 AM and 3 PM and will include a display of old fire trucks.

As well as hosting an open day for the public, the brigade will be launching a book on the history of the brigade since its faltering start in 1887.

Lilydale brigade observed its official centenary 100 years after its foundation under the "Country Fire Brigades Board", in 2005. This history book will serve to mark both the centenary of service under the CFBB as well as 125 years since the first attempts to set up a brigade in the town.

Lilydale is now a very vibrant town serving a large industrial and residential area, however the membership of around 100 are all volunteers whose motivation remains much the same as 100 years ago; to serve the community in times of trouble.

The book on the history of Lilydale Fire Brigade will be launched by CFA Chief Officer Euan Ferguson at 2 PM on Sunday 25th November at the fire station, 300 Main Street, Lilydale. All who are interested are welcome to attend.
