CFA attended a hazmat incident at a food factory in Mackay Street, Longwarry.

CFA was called to the scene around 1.45pm which was believed to be caused by an identified chemical being transferred from one container to another, causing a chemical plume.

CFA advised residents in the nearby vicinity including Witton Street, Church Street and Longwarry-Drouin Road to stay indoors, and close windows as a precaution.

The incident is now under control.
