Lucky escape for young driver

23.13 on the 16th of November Loch were paged out to a car accident with possible persons trapped.

En-route further information came across the radio that a car has struck a tree on the Korumburra -Wonthaggi rd, in Kongwak. It was also stated that the driver was trapped by the legs, and there was a passenger that was missing. 

A call was made to get the groups thermal imaging camera on scene to help find the missing patient. Once on scene crew came across a young female driver trapped in the vehicle which had hit a tree via the drivers door.

After some work from the crews the patient was freed. After a search by local crews and a look with the thermal imaging camera, it was soon discovered that there was no second patient. The rescue was done by the  Loch CFA with the helpful hand of the Wonthaggi SES

The driver of the car was lucky to get away with minor injuries and was flown to hospital. Vehicles on scene were Loch Rescue, Loch Support, Kongwak Tanker, Leongatha Support (TIC), Police, Ambulance and the Wonthaggi SES.
