The SRA has been contacted by the Great Ocean Road Marathon organisers to ask that if there are any CFA personnel are planning to compete in this event to become an official fundraiser for the event.
“The Great Ocean Road Marathon will take you along one of the world's most spectacular
coastal journeys, providing a unique opportunity to test yourself by running, jogging or even walking one of the various distance events ranging from 1.5km to 45km.
Communities including Wye River, Kennett River and Apollo Bay provide health and emergency services for not just locals but the millions of tourists that visit the area each year. With significant government financial cuts, services such as doctors, ambulance, CFA, ocean rescue, and surf life-saving have been dramatically affected.
The Apollo Bay & District Health Foundation Inc provides the financial support to maintain and improve community health services for these communities. Our Volunteers will be out in force to provide marshals for drink stations, litter pick up etc to ensure your experience is an enjoyable one.
We would love you to help us out by signing on as an official fundraiser for this event. All registered fundraisers will receive a running T-shirt or singlet which we encourage you to wear as part of the
Foundation team on race day. Steve Monaghetti has committed his support to the Foundation, and will share his local knowledge and expertise at an event held exclusively for foundation supporters.”
