Melbourne Firefighter Stair Climb
The Inaugural Melbourne Firefighter Stair Climb will be held on 7 September 2014 at Crown Metropol Hotel in Melbourne.
This will become an annual event run by the Firefighters Charity Fund Melbourne. It will see career and volunteer firefighters come from all over Australia and the world to compete.
The event will see career and volunteer fireghters ascend 28 flights of stairs in full structural firefighting protective clothing and wearing self-contained breathing apparatus .
The aim of the event is to raise $100,000 for The Alfred Hospital Burns Unit to assist in upgrading equipment and facilities and to further enhance Melbourne's world-class burns facility.
To be eligible to compete in the Melbourne Firefighter Stair Climb, competitors must be currently employed or volunteer in the active role of a firefighter.
Firefighters must be fully fit to compete and be at least 18 years of age on the day of the event.
