Melton Juniors reach a new high
On any typical Wednesday night at the rear of the Melton Fire Station, you will find Melton Junior Brigade participating in drills designed to provide them with an introduction to basic firefighting.
These drills may involve the use of small gear, ropes, knots and lines or ladders. Last Wednesday night, the brigade was fortunate to receive a visit from the ladder platform located at MFB station 47 at Footscray.
Kevin and Ian, the two MFB firefighters who attended with the appliance, detailed the operation of the vehicle along with its roles and capabilities. Following this, there was time for questions before the members were given the opportunity to test their fear of heights.
All those that did dare to go along for a ride said it was a great experience and hoped to one day be able to enjoy the view from the very top, as no one ventured above half the vehicle's height limit on this occasion.
The training night was a huge success and this was made possible with the efforts and interaction between the Melton members and Ian and Kevin from MFB station 47. Melton brigade would also like to thank MFB Commander Phillip Patterson for his efforts in arranging the visit.
