Mernda house fire
On Sunday 13 November at 6.55am Mernda, South Morang and Doreen fire brigades responded to a single-storey house fire.
The column of smoke sighted en route confirmed the house was well alight.
Heavy smoke, a cluttered interior and the whereabouts of the occupants added to the complexity of the job.
Crews in breathing apparatus coducted a primary search and an aggressive internal attack, conducting themselves well in difficult circumstances. Other crews protected exposures containing the fire to the property.
The crews on scene were supported by the Mernda Rehab Unit, Eltham BA support, Victoria Police and Ambulance Victoria.
Fire investigators will attend to determine the cause of the blaze.
