Yesterday was my first day at CFA as Chief Executive Officer.
CFA is a highly-regarded organisation with a proud history, and it is an honour and a privilege to serve as CEO for an interim period.
My background is in the health care system, where I began my career as a nurse and midwife until moving into roles within the broader health sector. In recent years I have worked as a senior executive in the Department of Health and Human Services.
As someone with extensive experience in hospital and ambulance services, I have had the opportunity to observe the way CFA responds to incidents in close tandem with other emergency services.
My focus over coming weeks and months will be to gain a better understanding of CFA and what support and resources you need to ensure you can continue to fulfil your roles safely and effectively.
Clearly this is a testing time for CFA, with a great deal of public scrutiny. This is understandably having an impact on volunteers and staff in all parts of the organisation, and I want to acknowledge the work and commitment of all staff and volunteers.
In the months ahead I look forward to speaking with volunteers, career firefighters and support staff across the state and learning more about CFA, its people, its operations and the communities it serves.
