Suspicious fire destroys Benalla shed
A disused woolshed beside a motorcycle clubhouse has been destroyed by an overnight fire at Benalla.
Local crews were called to the Railway place shed at 11.30pm Thursday 6 May and found the 20 x 20 metre building completely engulfed in fire.
The property, believed to have housed second hand furniture, took half an hour to bring under control.
CFA District 23 Rostered Duty Officer Adrian Gutsche said extra resources were quickly called on to battle the blaze.
“Benalla and surrounding brigades did a terrific job, contained it to the building, ensuring it didn’t spread to neighbouring properties, including a motorcycle clubhouse” Mr Gutsche said.
Firefighters from Baddaginnie, Violet Town and Wangaratta worked throughout the night to extinguish the fire.
Fire investigators and police have examined the shed and deemed the blaze suspicious.
