Mount Bolton – Laverys Road fire
Emergency services have worked through the night to contain a large fire at Mt Bolton, north-west of Ballarat.
The 1,300 hectare fire is contained but residents should remain aware of local weather and fire conditions.
At this stage two occupied houses have been confirmed damaged – one of which was destroyed – and a third old, unoccupied farm house has been lost.
Around half a dozen sheds have also been lost but further impact assessments will be completed today (Wednesday).
Crews are continuing to black out and patrol the fire for any hot spots and flare ups.
Around 40 trucks and 145 personnel worked on the fire through the night.
The cause of the fire is being investigated.
A relief centre is open from 9am today at Cooinda Community Centre, 10 Learmonth Road Wendouree.
A community meeting was held last night with more than 30 people attending.
