Multi-agency rescue in Fyansford

CFA today supported a multi-agency response to help rescue a man who became stuck down an embankment along Upper Paper Mills Road in Fyansford, just after 8.30am this morning.

 

CFA trucks and volunteer firefighters from Geelong West and Corio fire brigades responded to the incident in support of Victoria Police, which led the rescue operation. High-angle rescue specialists from Fire Rescue Victoria also supported the incident, along with VICSES and Ambulance Victoria. 

The man has a suspected fractured leg and emergency services were required to devise a plan to lift him up from his location and winch the patient up via the Ambulance Victoria helicopter. 

Paramedics accessed the man and supported him initially, and he was was conscious and reportedly in good spirits under the circumstances.

Update 12:55pm

The rescue was successful, and the man was winched to safety and the care of Ambulance Victoria.

Incident controller Paul Cockerill praised the multi-agency response, saying all teams worked collaboratively for a successful outcome.
