Multiple brigades rein in Seaford factory fire
More than 40 firefighters and 12 appliances made short work of a factory fire that threatened a Seaford industrial area on Friday.
District 8 Operations Officer Andrew Turner said crews from Patterson River, Carrum Downs, Frankston, Dandenong and Scoresby managed to limit the damage to the inside of an automotive engine workshop in Rutherford Rd.
Both volunteer and career firefighters were on the scene and had the fire contained with the assistance of aerial tankers from Dandenong and Frankston.
Neighbouring factory units suffered minor smoke damage but were otherwise left unscathed. Police are investigating the cause.
“The inside of the factory unit was totally gutted but the structure is still standing,” Mr Turner said.
“Fire investigators will on the site today, assisting police forensics.”
