National Red Balloon Day says thank you to fireys

Victorians are being urged to support National Red Balloon Day by purchasing and displaying a red balloon to raise money and say thank-you to firefighters for the brave and courageous work they do.

Now in its 4th year, National Red Balloon Day is held on 28 February. Members of the community can purchase a balloon to fly on their letterbox, fence or business window on the day to show their support.

Since the event began, it has raised more than $26,000 for CFA. Last year alone, it enabled 3 brigades to purchase much-need defibrillators. It has also supported volunteers to attend training sessions and conferences.

Event director Jody Hardiman said the event is a simple way to let fireys know we appreciate the efforts they put in year around.

“Many of these firefighters are away from their families for days on end to keep our families and communities safe. This event aims to honour and thank our brave and courageous fire fighters Australia wide,” she said.

In addition to balloons, other merchandise including pens and stickers are also available, the profits from items purchased by Victorians directly benefitting CFA.

If you would like to purchase a balloon to display next Tuesday 28 February, visit the event website and order your balloons now.
