National Volunteer Week 13-19 May
This year is the 24th annual celebration of National Volunteer Week across Australia (13-19 May).
The purpose of this year’s campaign is to say "Thanks a million" to volunteers in our community, neighbourhood and family for giving up their time and effort to help others.
CFA is already planning a few activities across the organisation. Here’s what’s going on.
A few regions will be holding a “Thanks a million” National Volunteer Week morning tea or BBQ. These will be attended by not just CFA volunteers but employers of volunteers who support and
recognise the importance of their role.
Keep an eye out for the ‘Thanks a million’ CFA press ad to appear in a range of suburban and regional newspapers throughout Victoria during National Volunteer Week. This will say a special thanks to our 57,000+ volunteers, their families and their employers.
CFA will have some social media activity to complement the week, asking the public to leave messages of “Thanks a mllion” to volunteers and also encouraging our volunteers to give a shout out to their employer.
Fed Square is back on board! Like last year, Fed Square will display a selection of volunteer images and combine these with content gathered from the social media messages, which will rotate across the square's various screens. Fed Square is a big supporter of CFA and has its very own CFA volunteer in the audio visual team!
CFA's media team is currently pulling together some employer and volunteer profile stories that will appear on our News and Media webpage and on Facebook.
Not finalised (but were working on it), our media team is in the process of coordinating with some regions to link in with their local ABC radio stations to carry out some live 'talk-in’ sessions throughout the week, asking what it’s like to be a volunteer and what type of people out there in the community give up their time to respond at the drop of a hat…further notice of these sessions will be promoted once confirmed, so stay tuned!
