New CFA SES facility for Marong
Victorian Government media release
The opening of a new CFA fire station and SES building unit in Marong will boost emergency response capabilities in the City of Greater Bendigo.
Minister for Police and Emergency Services and Bushfire Response Kim Wells, joined by Members for Northern Victoria Region Amanda Millar and Damian Drum said the new emergency services complex was a joint initiative between CFA and SES to increase their capacity to protect the community.
“The new complex will see Marong become a hub for emergency services management in Bendigo’s booming west,” Mr Wells said.
“This new $1.3 million complex will mean CFA and SES will be better equipped to respond to emergencies and protect the lives and property of the rapidly increasing population in Marong."
The new complex replaces a 45-year-old building, and ensures the brigade and unit are well equipped to perform their critical work, now and into the future.
The CFA brigade boasts a three bay appliance room with fully motorised roller doors, kitchen facilities, toilets and multi-purpose areas. It also features improved training facilities, which will assist the brigade to build stronger links with the community and attract new volunteers.
The SES component of the complex would provide improved facilities for local members with extra storage for operational equipment, a dedicated training area and a communications room with a separate controller’s room.
Mr Drum welcomed the new complex for the local community and acknowledged the work of the local SES and CFA members.
