With improved facilities and more space, the South Warrandyte Fire Brigade is well equipped to continue keeping this community safe.

The new $6.8m building is staffed 24 hours a day and will help the brigade deal with increased demand.

The custom-designed building includes three drive-through bays for trucks, an area for protective equipment, training space, meetings rooms and living quarters for up to six full time staff.

The integrated station now has a rotation of 40 volunteer and career firefighters working side by side to cover a larger patch including South Warrandyte, Park Orchards, North Ringwood, Warranwood and Donvale.

The new site provides better access to these areas, with Falconer Road part of the designated North East Arterial Route giving firefighters a direct route to the Greater Warrandyte area.

Over a 60-year history, South Warrandyte Fire Brigade has played an active role in major incidents in Victoria including Ash Wednesday and the Hazelwood mine fire.
