Nominate now for the 2016 Volunteer Leaders Forum
CFA’s future leaders have the opportunity to network and learn more about emergency management at this year’s Volunteer Leaders Forum.
Organised by the Emergency Services Foundation, the Forum is now into its fifth year. This year it will be held at the St Kilda Novotel from Saturday, 30 April to Sunday, 1 May.
The event includes:
- Leadership workshops
- Chief Officers’ panel and open forum
- Urban Search and Rescue display
- BBQ networking dinner
- Tours of the State Control Centre, Victoria Police Air Wing and other sites
- Presentations on first aid education, social media and emergency aviation.
Emergency Services Minister Jane Garrett MP, Inspector-General for Emergency Management Tony Pearce and Emergency Management Commissioner Craig Lapsley will all speak.
Places are limited so apply as soon as possible.
Drouin West Captain Bruce Jewell attended a previous Forum and urges anyone with an interest in emergency management to nominate.
“It opened my eyes to the way other emergency services do business and the lessons we can learn from them” he said.
“It also gave me a great chance to network with other emergency services leaders.”
Bruce said the forum taught him valuable leadership tips and ideas.
“As Captains we are leaders in our communities and need to ask ourselves “what can we do better to prepare our brigades.’”
“I’ll be encouraging some of my up and coming leaders to nominate”
Two nights’ accommodation and all meals are included.
