Only one sleep to Good Friday Appeal 2016
Preparations for this week’s Good Friday Appeal are in full swing, with CFA members across the State gearing up to make the 85th annual Appeal the most successful ever.
CFA members have been supporting The Good Friday Appeal for over 60 years and last year helped collect over $1.7 million.
While brigades in all corners of Victoria pound pavements and rattle tins, action in Melbourne centers on the Kid’s Day Out on Friday at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre from 10am to 6pm.
The Centre will be transformed into a wonderland for kids, with a giant roller-skating rink, laser skirmish, sports clinics, the popular Teddy Bear Hospital, kids cooking classes, rides, music, dancing and – of course – CFA.
Captain Koala and Friends, the Mobile Education Unit, a truck from Langwarrin Fire Brigade and Donald Fire Brigade’s vintage T-Model Ford will be there to add to the family fun.
When the entertainment ends at 6pm, the action shifts to the Good Friday Appeal telethon on Channel 7 and the count towards the final tally.
Be sure to tune in at 11.00pm when Chief Officer Joe Buffone announces the amount raised by CFA and presents, for the first time, CFA’s ‘New and Improved Giant Cheque’ to The Good Friday Appeal on behalf of our members.
And don’t forget to tell us about the fundraising activities that your brigade is doing this Good Friday. You can post your stories and photos on CFA News & Media or share them on Facebook.
