On Saturday 11 May 2013 the Hampton Park Fire Brigade teamed up with the Hampton Park Veterinary Hospital to once again run a successful Dog Grooming Day.

Members of the public were invited down to the station to have their dogs groomed by the team from the veterinary hospital with all profits going to the brigade.  It was a great success with over 40 dogs washed, clipped and blow dried.  The doors to station were opened and the community had an opportunity to take a tour of the station, climb on board the trucks and meet our firefighters.  The Operational Support team were on hand to provide a sausage sizzle for a gold coin donation and it proved to be a great hit!

Captain Troy Smith said, "Working in partnership with the local veterinary hospital has proved to be a great success in raising the profile of the brigade within the community and at the same time raising much needed funds."

This year's event exceeded all expectations and the team from the veterinary hospital were kept busy all day.  The weather was ideal with the sun shining throughout the day. Dogs of all shapes and sizes lined up to be pampered and some even had the chance to get in the trucks. Our younger human visitors were treated to dressing up as a firefighter and hopping on board the trucks as well.

A great day was had by members of the brigade, our guests of honour (the pampered pooches) and our community who took the time to come down and support the brigade.

The brigade raised over $1000 for the day, almost doubling the money raised last year.
