Planned burn at Wallan
CFA is undertaking a planned burn on Taylors Lane near the Northern Highway at Wallan today, Thursday 17 April.
Crews began working on the 40-hectare burn at 2pm and expect it to be completed by 7pm tonight.
Smoke will be visible in the area, and may be seen from the Northern Highway and Hume Freeway.
The timing and intensity of the burn will be carefully controlled to target and reduce fuel loads.
The burns will help reduce fire fuel to make fires easier to control and to protect lives and property.
Planned burns were recommended by the 2009 Victorian Bushfires Royal Commission.
