A family had to evacuate their double-storey home after noticing the smell of smoke coming from an upstairs bedroom.

The owner’s daughter noticed a smell of smoke coming from the bedroom on the upper level and quickly alerted her mother and called 000.

All family members were able to exit the building safely.

Crews from Hampton Park, Narre Warren and Casey Group were responded at 3.45pm on Monday, with support provided by FRV.

The quick response and good work of firefighters contained the fire to the bedroom and roof space, but the remainder of the property was damaged by heat and smoke.

An early call to respond the Ladder Platform was made and the truck was used to assess the solar system, air conditioner, and access some hot spots on the upper level.
