R U OK? Day 2016
A simple question can change their day.
With our ever-increasing busy lives, it's easy to forget to check up on those around us. A broken arm is easy to see – depression is not.
That is why R U OK? Day is so important. It is the time to have a conversation about mental health and reminds us to check in with family, friends and colleagues - to have a chat and show them you care.
R U OK? is a national suicide prevention charity. Sadly suicide is on the increase. It is the leading cause of death for Australians aged 15-44 years, with the rate for men nearly twice that of women.
However, in recent years there has also been a marked increase in the number of young women aged 15-24 years and those in the 55-64 year age group dying by suicide.
R U OK?’s vision is for a world where we’re all connected and are protected from suicide – where we are meaningfully connected to others and in which our sense of belonging is strengthened because we know people are there for us.
CFA is proud to support R U OK? and R U OK? Day on Thursday 8 September 2016.
