Radio reflash: two weeks & counting
In preparation for transition to CFA’s new digital radio network, the RRDS Project Team has commenced scheduling brigade visits to upgrade the software in CFA Tait radios.
All CFA Tait radios must be updated with this new software to enable them to work on the digital network.
Brigades in Districts 2, 12, 14 and 15 will be the first contacted to schedule visits which will start from Monday 23 September 2013.
In preparation for the reflash program, brigade captains are encouraged to contact their members and advise them the reflashing is starting. Members who have a bag or portable radio in their possession should confirm its location so that it can be made available for reflash when requested.
Brigades in other districts will be contacted progressively over coming weeks to schedule reflash visits.
District 12: 23 September – 11 October 2013
District 14, 15: 23 September – 18 October 2013
District 2: 23 September – 1 November 2013
District 22: 14 October – 22 November 2013
District 6, 16: 21 October – 22 November 2013
District 7: 4 – 29 November 2013
District 5, 13, 23: 25 November – 20 December 2013
District 8: 2 -20 December 2013
Districts 4, 9, 10, 11, 17, 18, 20 and 24 are scheduled to be reflashed between January and April 2014 and brigades will be advised of the reflash schedule closer to the date.
Completing the reflash is a requirement for each district to enable it to transition. When radios are reflashed, they will operate in the same manner as at present. Changes to radio functionality will only occur once a district transitions to the new digital radio network.
