Register for Knox Group torchlight parade
On 28 Feburary 2015, the Knox Fire Brigades Group will be conducting a CFA fire brigade torchlight parade.
The torchlight march starts at Ferntree Gully Fire Station and finishes at the Ferntree Gully football oval, Brenock Park Drive, where Knox Festival will be in full swing.
Traditionally, large crowds gather along the parade route and at the oval to greet the firefighters. Shortly after arrival at the football ground, there will be a spectacular fireworks display.
All brigades and bands then return to Ferntree Gully Fire Station to continue the night’s celebrations with friendly and welcoming CFA families. Time to enjoy a meal and a drink too!
We anticipate we will have 20-25 volunteer brigades (more than 250 volunteer firefighters) and three bands involved on the night.
There will be awards for brigades that display marching excellence and presentation skills, though all brigades will be warmly welcomed regardless of their marching ability. The emphasis on the night will be to show the public the fighting power of CFA volunteers and allow the public to show their appreciation for the never-ending work done by volunteer firefighters. Camaraderie among firefighters is an important aspect of this event and Junior brigades (marching alone or with brigade firefighters) are most welcome.
