It was cool and cloudy with a threat of rain as a crew from Research assembled at the station on Saturday May 4, to prepare for the Research Primary School Fete.

Armed with a tanker, a 6X3 marquee, a tub of showbags, some tables & brochures, a Captain Koala suit and Li’l Lex the D13 Heltiak, we set off to the school and set up our display.

Fortunately, the rain held off and we even had some sunny breaks. During the day, Captain Koala went for several walks around the school, kids sat in the cabin of the tanker and had photos taken, showbags were given out and two of our junior members helped to promote the Junior Brigade program. The big hit of the day was undoubtedly Li’l Lex – he was in constant use all day long.

Overall, the day was a great success and many thanks go to the volunteers who gave their time to the event. Special thanks also to the good folks at D13 who lent us the Captain Koala suit and Li’l Lex.
