Ride-on mower sparks Maldon fire
A grass and scrub at Maldon, south-west of Bendigo, was believed to be sparked by a ride-on mower on private property.
CFA crews were called to the small but fast moving grass fire on Maldon Bryants Road at 3.50pm today, 9 December.
The fire spread into nearby bush land and two water aircrafts were called in which assisted the attack on the fire.
The fire burnt approximately 15 hectares and there was no property damage.
An Advice message was issued warning the community to smoke and fire activity in the area.
CFA and DSE firefighters controlled the blaze within two hours and crews will remain on scene mopping up for a few hours.
CFA units on scene were from Maldon, Newstead, Lockwood, Walmer, Baringhup, Eddington, Castlemaine and Harcourt.
