Scoresby brigade to the rescue
CFA’s Scoresby firefighters have turned some children’s tears into smiles with a simple act of kindness after a tragic fire.
On Tuesday 12 November, brigades from Bayswater, Boronia and Scoresby attended a fire at the Knox Childcare and Kindergarten.
When crews arrived on scene just after 9.30pm, the structure was well alight. Firefighters were able to control the fire within 20 minutes but the building was totally destroyed.
The centre’s children and their families were devastated, which was made worse by the fact their teddy bears picnic was scheduled for the next day (Wednesday 13th November), which could obviously no longer go ahead.
To ensure the children didn’t miss out, the Scoresby Fire Brigade approached the centre with an offer to hold the teddy bears picnic at the Scoresby Fire Station.
The offer was accepted gratefully by the centre and will be held on Saturday 7 December at 10:00am.
