FireReady app users in Shepparton have been sharing photos of this afternoon's bushfire that show just how close the blaze got to homes.

The photos also show how areas of the town were blanketed by smoke at the height of the blaze.

For latest warnings and advice see the Warnings & Incidents page.

The ability to share photos via the app was created to encourage the community to use images to share information with each other and the emergency services during an emergency.

The FireReady app has now been downloaded onto over 370,000 devices. For a video tutorial on how to get the best out of the app and for some fixes to reported issues see "FireReady app advice".
