Mooroopna and Shepparton brigades received several calls to a house fire in Tonkin Street Shepparton just after 2:00pm on Sunday (1 June).

RDO Rob Van Dorsser said around 10 people were in the house when it appeared a fire started in a bedroom.

The occupiers grabbed what they could from the house before fleeing the fire which was starting to spread throughout the building. Although the house was badly damaged by the fire the staff and volunteer crews did a great job to contain the fire with no injuries.

Senior Station Officer Allen placed a "Fire stop" on the job at twenty past three. Police, power and gas companies attended and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
