CFA is encouraging Victorians to grab a sausage on Saturday, 28 January and raise funds for their local fire brigade.
Barbecue fundraisers are being held at Bunnings Warehouse stores raising money for CFA and SES.
Volunteer firefighters will join their Bunnings team members at around 43 stores across the state to discuss fire safety with members of the community.
CFA Chief Officer Steve Warrington commended Bunnings for recognising the important work carried out by the state’s emergency service volunteers.
“This is a great way for people to support CFA brigades, get to know some of our dedicated members and find out some great fire safety tips.
“We hope the community will take up this opportunity to have a bite to eat and learn something about how to keep them and their loved ones safe from fire.
“We are in the middle of the summer season so this remains a critical period for fire and emergency services. We urge all Victorians to prepare their home, have a plan and keep informed of conditions.”
More than $126,000 was raised through this initiative in 2016 in Victoria, with more than $77,000 going directly to participating CFA brigades.
