Garage roof fire causes damage to home
Further investigations have ruled out solar panels as a possible cause of a house fire in Bunninyong on August 7.
The cause is yet to be determined as investigations continue.
Up to 25 CFA volunteer and career firefighters from Ballarat, Buninyong, Smythsdale and Mt Helen fought the blaze for nearly two hours from 12.30pm and the incident was called under control at 2.30pm. Many firefighters remained on the scene to help protect furniture from water damage and cover parts of the home with tarpaulin, doing everything they could to help clean up.
Two residents were treated by paramedics for smoke inhalation.
CFA District 15 Rostered Duty Officer Gavin Hope said firefighters went above and beyond to help the occupants.
“Our crews spent a long time helping the occupants salvage what they could from their home – a few of them have returned to the home today,” Mr Hope said.
“This is just one example of how we care for our community, beyond fighting fires.”
