Staceys Bridge Community Meet
A get together dinner for the Jack River community provided a chance for residents to talk with neighbours, catch up after the fire and speak with all agencies involved.
On the 22nd March, Staceys Bridge Community Hall played host to the Wellington Shire Council who sponsored a get together and debrief for the community affected by the Jack River Fire.
About 70 residents turned out for the evening, which included a BBQ dinner and drinks and a chance to catch up with fellow neighbours.
Gus Hughes, the Captain of the Jack River Brigade, helped keep the night rolling, speaking to the community members and introducing each of the guest speakers. Each of the agencies involved in the fire were represented on the night and spoke of their contribution in the fire and road to recovery.
The agencies, including CFA, DEPI, HVP and the Wellington Shire, all made themselves available to the community members, ready to answer questions and offer any support they could.
It was a successful and well organised evening, with many staying on after the formalities to chat and enjoy the community spirit.
