State Forum returns – register now!
The 4th Annual CFA Community Engagement and Fire Awareness State Forum will be held in Preston in 2014 and registrations of interest are now open.
The return of the State Forum follows the great success of this event held over the past three years in Macedon (2011), Creswick (2012) and Bendigo (2013). The State Forum encourages like-minded CFA members from across Victoria to get together and build on their community engagement knowledge and share their local community fire safety initiatives.
“Last year in Bendigo there were around 300 members that attended from 160 different brigades," said Deputy Chief Officer Steve Warrington. "That has to be the largest collection of CFA brigades in one place I’ve ever come across. The positive energy in the room was really fantastic."

Event 4th Annual CFA Community Engagement and Fire Awareness State Forum
2014 Theme Working togetherto prepare our communities
Date Saturday August 2 and Sunday August 3, 2014
Venue Bell City, Preston
The State Forum is led by the Member Engagement Volunteer Reference Group and the theme for this year is ‘Working together to prepare our communities’.
“That theme takes on multiple meanings,” said Steve, “one of which is the need for operations and community-safety-minded members to support one another to demonstrate that both fire prevention and suppression activities are core CFA business.”
A large focus of this year’s event will be to support brigade members undertaking a community safety role within their brigade. Community Safety will be a mandatory function on Brigade Management Teams (BMTs) as per the new Brigade and Membership Classification changes at brigade elections in 2015 and 2016.
If you are a CFA member interested in community safety or fire prevention awareness and education in your community, then register your interest to attend now.
