Members of Malmsbury Fire Brigade have taken part in an ecological burn alongside Macedon Ranges Shire council as part of the ongoing reclamation of Malmsbury common.

The purpose of the burn three-hectare burn was to remove excess thatch to allow native grass species to grow.

The Common is a highly-valued conservation reserve with significant native grasslands, wetlands and stream bank vegetation.

It is also home to a diversity of flora and fauna and supports important Aboriginal and European cultural heritage values.
